XEIAD is a specialist engineering inspection consultancy delivering high‑quality inspections and assessments on critical infrastructure assets. Using specialist access techniques such as rope access, diving and confined space working, their expert engineers inspect structures including bridges, tunnels and culverts, providing reliable insight to help asset owners manage risk and maintain safety.

Ideally, the successful candidate for this role would be based in/around Manchester, Leeds or Derby.

What will you be doing? As a Senior Inspection Engineer for XEIAD, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will independently deliver complex infrastructure examinations and lead high‑risk activities such as tunnel inspections, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of programmes across the rail and structures portfolio. You will:

  • Undertake tunnel and structural examinations independently, acting as Examining Engineer where required.
  • Deliver technical inspections, investigations and surveys, providing engineering review and assessment across infrastructure assets.
  • Lead on Tunnel Examinations and other complex inspections, ensuring compliance with standards and best practice.
  • Coordinate teams and manage inspection programmes, including planning methods, access and sequencing.
  • Produce high‑quality examination reports and monitor progress, identifying and managing delivery risks.
  • Support project delivery and team development, including client engagement, supplier coordination, mentoring and acting (or working towards) as a Delegated Engineer.

As part of our team, you will get:

  • A salary of £45,000 to £55,000 dependant on professional qualifications, competencies and experience.

To join our team, you will need:

  • A Degree, HND or HNC in Civil Engineering.
  • To hold STE2 and STE6 competencies.
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety).
  • Strong experience in infrastructure or structural engineering, including inspections, examination and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage your own workload and contribute to programme delivery.
  • The ability to mentor and support junior engineers and examiners.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
  • To be medically fit for rail work and hold the appropriate railway medical.
  • Full UK Driving License.
