Xede Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Lecturer to join a Further Education team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in either GCSE Mathematics (resit learners) or Functional Skills Mathematics, supporting learners to achieve their full potential and progress successfully.
This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to inclusive teaching, learner achievement, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, effective, and inclusive maths lessons in GCSE Mathematics (resit) or Functional Skills Mathematics (Entry Level to Level 2)
- Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with awarding body and curriculum requirements
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with prior negative experiences of maths
- Support learners to build confidence, resilience, and numeracy skills
- Use a variety of teaching methods and digital tools to enhance learning
- Assess learner progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Prepare learners for internal and external assessments and examinations
- Track learner performance, maintain accurate records, and contribute to achievement and retention targets
- Ensure teaching meets Ofsted, awarding body, and college quality standards
- Contribute to course reviews, self-assessment reports, and quality improvement plans
- Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and teaching practice
- Act as a tutor or provide pastoral support where required
- Work closely with learning support, safeguarding, and curriculum teams to support learner success
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations in the classroom
- Participate in team meetings, CPD, and standardisation activities
- Contribute to curriculum development and resource creation
- Uphold the values, policies, and safeguarding responsibilities of the College
- A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject, or equivalent qualification
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or willingness to work towards one)
- Experience of teaching GCSE Maths resit learners or Functional Skills Mathematics in an FE/post-16 setting, or Secondary Education
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
- Ability to motivate and support learners with varying levels of confidence and ability
- Experience working with learners aged 16–19 and/or adult learners
- Knowledge of current GCSE Maths or Functional Skills specifications
- Experience of preparing learners for examinations and assessments
- Understanding of inclusive practice and supporting learners with SEND
