We are urgently seeking a dedicated and experienced Additional Learning Support (ALS) Coordinator to provide immediate cover within our Learner Services department. This is a vital role that ensures the continuity and quality of support for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring our learners receive the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential in an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Coordinate Support Teams: Oversee and manage a team of Learning Support Practitioners (LSPs), ensuring that high standards of support are consistently delivered across the organisation.
  • Initial Assessments & Support Planning: Carry out detailed initial learner assessments to identify support needs, and develop personalised support plans tailored to each student.
  • EHCP Management: Monitor, review, and track support provided to learners with EHCPs. This includes attending and contributing to annual reviews, liaising with local authorities, and updating documentation as needed.
  • Collaborative Working: Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to learner support.
  • Data and Record Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of learner support interventions and progress using platforms such as ProMonitor or similar systems.
  • Safeguarding and Compliance: Ensure all practices comply with safeguarding guidelines, SEND Code of Practice, and internal policies related to inclusive education.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, alongside Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in coordinating support for learners with EHCPs in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) strategies, safeguarding principles, and best practices in inclusive education.
  • Skills: Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple learner support plans, timetables, and review processes effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
