About Xe Xe is a cross-border payments platform.
We help SMEs and consumers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand collect, convert, hold, and send money across markets.
Each year, over 300 million people use Xe for currency information and over 350,000 use us to send money overseas.
Today, we're rebuilding the platform layer behind cross-border payments for corporate and consumer clients.
We're small enough that your code ships fast and your decisions matter, and Euronet Worldwide (Nasdaq: EEFT) backs us so the problems stay real-scale.
About This Role We're hiring a Team Lead who owns how a squad builds and ships, from architecture and API design through to delivery, reliability, and the growth and performance of the engineers on the team.
You already use AI as part of how you think, build, test, and ship, and shape how the team does the same.
You’ll write code that moves money in production, own the squad's architecture and engineering delivery, lead the growth of its engineers, and serve as the squad's technical co-lead with the Product Manager.
Your squad owns a slice of the platform that moves money for Xe’s customers, along with the services and partner integrations behind it.
You align with adjacent squads when work crosses boundaries.
What You’ll Do Lead the engineering team building and running your squad's slice of the platform, across the services, APIs, and partner integrations that move money for Xe’s customers.
Set technical direction and lead the squad's hands‑on engineering work: architecture, API design, code for the hard parts, design reviews, code review standards, and leading the squad's response to production incidents.
Own engineering delivery for the squad, iterating with the PM on roadmap, sprint plans, timelines, and what ships when.
Lead and support the engineers as people, not just technically: pairing, mentoring, regular 1:1s, feedback, and helping them grow and perform, including contributing to interview loops.
Shape how the team adopts AI tools: set the example for using agentic coding tools daily across the SDLC and raise the bar for how the squad ships with them.
What We’re Looking For Must-have 6 to 10+ years building production software systems, end-to-end.
Track record of technical leadership in a software team: setting architecture, leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, and being accountable for a squad's technical decisions.
Experience leading, developing, and supporting engineers beyond the technical, including coaching, regular 1:1s, feedback, and helping people grow and perform, as a meaningful part of the role alongside hands‑on technical leadership.
Strong backend proficiency in C# / .
NET preferred; other OOP languages welcome (Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent).
Working frontend fluency with Vue. js, React, or equivalent.
Strong system design experience, including distributed systems and service‑oriented or microservices architecture.
Payments, FX, or regulated‑industry experience.
SQL and relational database fundamentals.
Production experience with AWS, including native services such as SQS, Dynamo DB, S3, ECS, and Lambda, and ownership of CI/CD pipelines including release gating (Git Hub Actions or equivalent).
Daily use of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) across the SDLC, with a clear point of view on how a team should adopt AI.
Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical decisions for product and business audiences.
Nice-to-have Track record leading engineering teams shipping payments, fintech, or money‑movement products at scale.
Formal line‑management or performance‑management experience.
Track record of hiring, interviewing, or onboarding engineers.
Experience modernizing platforms, decoupling from legacy services, or leading large refactors.
Experience leading engineering teams through significant change (scaling, modernization, or restructuring).
