About This Role We're hiring a senior back-end engineer who owns real problems end-to-end and shapes how the team builds, from API design and data modeling through to service implementation, production reliability, and launch. You already use AI as part of how you think, build, test, and ship. You'll write code that moves money in production, design and modernize the backend services the platform runs on, and lead delivery of new capability as Xe rebuilds its platform layer. You'll work in a small team with direct access to product, compliance, and operations, own architecture in your domain, lead design reviews, mentor mid-level engineers, and partner with architects and team leads on cross-domain decisions. Daily use of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) across the SDLC. Production experience with AWS, including hands-on deployment, CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices, and native services such as SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda. Strong system design and architecture experience, including service-oriented or microservices and event-driven patterns. Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience. Track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and making architecture decisions in your domain. Strong written and verbal communication. Nice-to-have Experience with ledgers, double-entry accounting, or other financial-data systems. Experience hiring, interviewing, or onboarding engineers. Experience leading modernization or platform migrations. Experience with caching solutions like Memcached or Redis. Experience using project management and documentation tools like Jira and Confluence. Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno.
