Our client A leading logistics organisation The role of General Manager You'll be responsible for the performance of one of the key depots ensuring that you create high quality and service results with your budget.

Leading a large team to drive processes and improvement within a fast paced environment to ensure excellent service levels are being met.

You will lead, coach & develop and engage with staff to ensure 'best in class processes' are implemented and the organisational vision is set out.

Your responsibilities will include: Implementation of a companys transport strategy for the UK that will enable the business to meet its functional and commercial goals for the future General Manager of a key pallet depot responsible for all of the transport scheduling and administration Implementation of a set of KPI`s that will complement the business model, provide direction for process improvements and provide better leverage when influencing stakeholders Accountability for compliance and H&SE across the supply chain Formulating and successfully implementing company policy Supporting the development of strategic plans Maintaining and supporting an effective team Plan, develop and implement transport & logistics policies and goals.

Maintain a thorough understanding of all areas of the transport & logistics operation to ensure operational efficiency and economy.

Maintain ongoing awareness of market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes.

Work and communicate with departments Plan, develop and implement activities in cooperation with departments and monitor and review weekly and monthly results by means of management meetings and reports.

Develop and maintain relationships with all staff to ensure company goals are achieved.

Directing strategy towards the profitable growth and operation of the company.

Developing strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives and priorities established by the board.

Putting in place adequate operational planning and financial control systems.

Ensuring that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by the management and other employees.

Closely monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets.

Taking remedial action where necessary and informing the board of significant changes.

Maintaining the operational performance of the Depot.

Experience

Experience: Has run large depots in the parcels, pallet or logistics sector - essential.

Transport & Logistics background essential.

Full understanding of current health & safety and legal compliance regulations applicable to transport & logistics.

Strong communication and interaction skills required.

Effective and competent management, leadership and organizational skills required.

A real eye for detail.

A passionate and energetic individual.

Good at planning and organising.

Excellent communication skills especially on the shop floor.

A great leader of people.

The courage to make difficult decisions when required in line with company policies.

Outline Salary and

Package: Annual Salary £60k to £65k dependent upon experience with generous car package + Annual bonus linked to personal and business KPIs + Private Health cover + 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 based on length of service) + company discount scheme.
