At Xcel Health FCP, we are a leading provider of First Contact Practitioners (FCP) to NHS Primary Care Networks (PCNs) across the UK. Role Description: This is a full-time & Part-Time, on-site FCP Podiatrist role. The FCP Podiatrist will provide first-contact assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions within primary care, including MSK, diabetic, and wound-related presentations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive podiatric and biomechanical assessments
- Prescribing and reviewing orthotics
- Planning and delivering evidence-based treatment
- Advising on self-management and prevention
The role also involves close collaboration with GPs, nurses, and other MDT members, contributing to care pathways, documenting clinical activity in line with NHS standards, and participating in service development and audit activities.
Requirements:
- Clinical expertise in Podiatry, with strong assessment and treatment skills for common foot and lower limb conditions
- Relevant knowledge in Medicine and Diabetes to safely manage patients with complex needs and long-term conditions in primary care
- Competence in Biomechanics and Orthotics for gait analysis, functional assessment, and prescription or modification of foot orthoses
- Recognised degree or diploma in Podiatry and current registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body (e.g., HCPC or equivalent)
- Experience working in NHS, primary care, or community settings, or similar advanced practice role
- Strong record-keeping skills, understanding of clinical governance, and commitment to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development
- Effective communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to work autonomously within an MDT environment
