We are currently recruiting for an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Manager to join a major technology transformation programme with a leading global engineering and aerospace organisation. This is a BAU operational role, focused on the ongoing management, governance, quality and maintenance of the ServiceNow CMDB rather than platform development, configuration or initial implementation. The organisation currently has an active workstream focused on bringing the CMDB to a strong and sustainable level. This role will take ownership of the ongoing operational management of the CMDB as that recovery activity progresses.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the ongoing operational health of the ServiceNow CMDB.
- Monitor and improve CI correctness, completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain and oversee CI data quality across the CMDB.
- Monitor and improve Discovery data quality and identify issues requiring remediation.
- Support the introduction and maintenance of new and updated Service Mappings.
- Work closely with CI Data Owners to drive data quality improvements and ensure agreed outcomes are delivered.
- Produce and contribute to CMDB reporting and management information, identifying trends, issues and areas requiring attention.
- Act as an extended member of the organisation's ServiceNow Centre of Excellence / COE.
- Actively participate in the CMDB Working Group, contributing to governance, standards and continuous improvement.
- Help establish and maintain effective operational processes around CMDB ownership and data quality.
- Identify CMDB issues and coordinate with relevant technical and business stakeholders to drive them through to resolution.
- Support the transition from the current CMDB recovery activity into a sustainable BAU operating model.
We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience managing and governing ServiceNow CMDB environments operationally. You'll ideally have experience with:
- ServiceNow CMDB management and governance.
- Configuration Item (CI) lifecycle management and data quality.
- Service Mapping and maintaining accurate service relationships.
- ServiceNow Discovery and Discovery data quality.
- CMDB reporting and data quality metrics.
- Working with CI/Data Owners and wider business stakeholders.
- CMDB governance frameworks, processes and working groups.
- Operating within a ServiceNow Centre of Excellence or similar environment.
This is not a ServiceNow platform development role. We are specifically looking for someone who understands how to manage, maintain, govern and continuously improve a CMDB in a live operational environment. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as the role will require you to work with a range of technical teams, data owners and senior stakeholders to drive improvements and achieve measurable outcomes.
The role is hybrid and location-flexible across the UK, with travel to client sites required when necessary. Edinburgh would be particularly advantageous, as a key stakeholder for the role is based there and some regular face-to-face engagement would be beneficial. There is currently no fixed requirement for a specific number of days in an office.
Contract Details
- 612 month contract, with the potential for the right candidate to continue longer term.
- ASAP start.
- £400-£475 per day, depending on experience.
- Active SC Clearance required.
- Hybrid working with occasional travel to client sites.
If you're a ServiceNow CMDB professional with strong operational, governance and data quality experience, and you're looking for a contract where you can take ownership of a critical CMDB environment, we'd be keen to hear from you.
