1 year Fixed-term contract | £80,000 - £120,000 | London, 2 days a week in office

About the Company

We're working with a major consumer group operating across a number of regulated European markets, with a large in-house technology function and a well-established internal AI platform already in production.

Adoption of that platform today sits with a committed minority. This role exists to change that, moving AI from something a handful of enthusiasts use into everyday, governed practice across Tech. It's a fixed-term appointment with a clear mandate: a coaching and capability-building remit rather than a build role, where the brief is to make teams self-sufficient rather than to deliver for them.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Run practical, hands-on workshops where engineers and product teams leave having built and shipped something working themselves
  • Coach technical teams and domain experts through the full lifecycle, from spotting a worthwhile use case, through scoping, to a first working solution they own
  • Triage incoming use cases, separating quick wins teams can deliver alone from those needing architect-level support or a different discipline entirely
  • Build training material on RAG, agent design, prompt engineering and API integration, pitched at a technical audience and grounded in real internal scenarios
  • Make governance, security and data classification part of the design conversation from day one, and upskill teams to self-serve on documentation and release standards
  • Flag gaps in process, tooling or guidance, and work with platform owners to close them
  • A secondary strand, roughly a fifth of the role, covers coding assistant adoption across engineering

What They're Looking For

  • Years of hands-on in data engineering, ML or AI engineering, solutions architecture or DevOps, followed by a deliberate move into enablement, consultancy or internal transformation
  • Track record of coaching others to deploy agents or retrieval pipelines in production, not simply building them yourself
  • Strong prompt engineering depth, covering system prompts, structured output and evaluation, with the ability to teach it
  • Working knowledge of at least one low-code automation platform, enough to train others credibly
  • Solid grasp of enterprise integration patterns including REST, OAuth and SSO, rate limiting and data movement between systems
  • Genuine conviction about governance and oversight, built on having seen what happens without it
  • Able to translate technical complexity for non-technical audiences and hold credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Desirable: regulated sector background, MCP or similar agent connectivity frameworks, vector databases and semantic search, commercial LLM provider experience, multi-site delivery

What's On Offer

A fixed-term contract paying £80,000 to £120,000 depending on experience, hybrid with two days a week in a central London office. You'll own AI capability uplift across a technology function of over a thousand people, with scope to define the standard rather than inherit one. Well suited to someone who likes a defined mandate with a visible endpoint and measurable impact.
