We’re seeking a Java Engineer to join a small, high‑calibre engineering team supporting and enhancing a proprietary, mission critical, multi‑asset trading platform. About the Role

In this role, you\’ll play a pivotal part in supporting, maintaining, and evolving an established in-house trading platform used across a diverse set of asset classes. You’ll collaborate closely with traders, risk teams, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and well‑tested solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing day‑to‑day support for a standalone multi‑asset trading platform, including operational troubleshooting and bug fixing.
• Delivering ongoing development and feature enhancements, including reviewing and modernising core platform code.
• Ensuring systematic testing and high‑quality release management.
• Building MIS reporting tools and supporting automation.
• Working directly with the business trading team to shape technical solutions.
• Supporting STP/automation integrations with third‑party systems.
• Interpreting regulatory reporting requirements and implementing supporting functionality.
• Working with front‑end development tools, cybersecurity considerations, and wider infrastructure.

Working in a small company where you have exposure to the full tech stack, requires candidates who are happy to learn as they go, and pick up work that might sit traditionally outside of their core skills.

Core Requirements

• 10 years relevant industry experience.
• Exposure to front/middle office trade systems.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Java (server‑side), MySQL, AWS (cloud services), Bash/Shell scripting exposure.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• A natural tech enthusiast with a hunger to learn and innovate.
• Preferred but not essential – UI experience in GWT, Java FX, Swing or similar.

• Repo, Stock Borrow Loan
• Commercial Paper
• Equities & Fixed Income
• FX (spot & swaps)
• Derivatives (IRS, TRS)
• Portfolio or investment management systems
