Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in the design, development, and optimisation of precision CNC machined components. This hands-on engineering role focuses on technical excellence, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and continuous improvement in design and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical parts for CNC machining with a focus on functionality, tolerancing, and manufacturability (using SolidWorks)
  • Apply GD&T standards for precision tolerancing of low-volume, high-value components
  • Create accurate 2D/3D technical drawings and documentation to support production and quality control
  • Perform static and dynamic mechanical analysis to validate structural integrity under real-world conditions
  • Conduct thermal simulations and CFD to assess heat dissipation and optimise airflow design
  • Specify and assess surface treatments and coatings for durability, optical performance, or thermal requirements
  • Identify and implement design improvements to enhance part performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Support root-cause analysis and apply engineering solutions to production and quality issues
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within machining and assembly workflows

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Approx 5 years of experience in mechanical part design and development, with a focus on CNC machined parts, including 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing creation
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) and engineering analysis tools
  • In-depth understanding of CNC machining processes, materials, and tolerances
  • Solid grasp of GD&T, DFM/DFA principles, and industry best practices
  • Skilled in performing mechanical analysis (static and dynamic) using tools like ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with thermal simulations and CFD tools for evaluating heat transfer and airflow
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection moulding, sheet metal, and 3D printing
  • Familiarity with surface finishing techniques (e.g., anodising, coating, polishing) for functional or aesthetic purposes

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer certification
  • Experience in regulated industries
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality improvement methodologies

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior mechanical designer/engineer to join a successful international organisation in its expanding phase, a leader in R&D and manufacturing of highly niche high-tech systems for a wide range of applications in life science, general industries, aerospace and the sky is the limit.
