We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled Design & Technology Technician to support the delivery of high-quality learning and teaching across the Design & Technology department. This is a key support role, ensuring that specialist teaching spaces, equipment and materials are well prepared, safe and fit for purpose.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality technical support to both teaching staff and students, helping to facilitate engaging and effective learning experiences. The role includes preparing materials and equipment, supporting the use of laser cutters, 3D printers, and other digital technologies, and assisting with the organisation and upkeep of departmental resources.
A strong commitment to health and safety is essential. The post holder will actively promote safe working practices by maintaining equipment, preparing materials in accordance with agreed risk assessments, and ensuring all workspaces are well organised and fully compliant with the school’s health and safety procedures.
The post is available from September on a permanent basis, working 21 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time plus two additional weeks). Hours will be worked flexibly over a minimum of four days per week. The distribution of hours may vary from year to year in response to the school timetable.
The role involves working flexibly across the department, supporting students and staff where the need is greatest. As a result, the successful candidate will be expected to work independently, using initiative and technical expertise to prioritise tasks effectively.
Flexibility, adaptability and a high level of initiative are essential, as is confidence when working with and communicating with young people. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude and a practical, solution focused approach are key to success in this role.
