We have an exciting new opportunity for a full-time Consultant Paediatrician working for a leading Trust in Northern Ireland, UK. This will be for a 2-year fixed-term contract, working full time (10 programmed activities per week), with the potential to extend, at the second largest hospital in Northern Ireland with teaching hospital status.
The post holder will be required to provide inpatient and outpatient paediatric and neonatal medical services, ensure high standards of clinical care by establishing clear standards, offering advice, encouraging audits, coordinating medical opinions, and providing clinical support for all child health services. The successful candidate will identify unmet needs and contribute to developing service provisions to address these needs. The candidate will also maintain an effective multidisciplinary secondary healthcare team, provide clinical advice, supervise training of doctors and medical students, and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education in child health.
Key Requirements:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics or Neonatal Medicine via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), CESR, or European Community Rights.
- APLS and NLS (or equivalent).
- Ability to provide Consultant-level emergency care in general paediatrics and neonatology, take full and independent responsibility for patient care, and communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, ability to develop effective working relationships across disciplines, lead and manage a clinical department, and supervise medical trainees.
- Higher degree (e.g., MD/PhD/MBA), MRCPCH or equivalent, formal management training, research, publications, or presentations are desirable.
- Level 3 (or equivalent) training in safeguarding and experience in safeguarding work; SPIN Module in Neonatal Medicine; knowledge of cardiac echo or neonatal interest are desirable.
Salary: £106,424 to £139,920 per annum
