We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent education provider for a qualified therapist to join a multidisciplinary clinical team supporting children and young people with complex additional needs.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a therapeutic education environment where you'll help children and young people overcome barriers to learning, improve emotional wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will provide therapeutic support for pupils with a range of needs, including developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will carry out clinical assessments, develop personalised intervention plans and deliver therapeutic support that promotes emotional wellbeing and engagement in education.
You will also work closely with education and residential staff to embed therapeutic approaches across the wider school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct therapeutic and mental health assessments.
- Develop personalised intervention and care plans.
- Deliver individual counselling and therapeutic interventions.
- Build positive therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the multidisciplinary team.
- Work collaboratively with education and residential colleagues to create therapeutic learning environments.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- A recognised qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or a related therapeutic discipline.
- Eligibility for professional membership with BACP or an equivalent recognised professional body.
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural or additional needs.
- Good understanding of child development, trauma‑informed practice and SEND.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A compassionate, proactive and collaborative approach to supporting young people.
Additional therapeutic or mental health qualifications would be advantageous.
