An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and inspirational therapy leader to join a specialist education provider supporting children and young people with complex learning, physical and communication needs.

Our client is seeking an experienced senior therapist to lead and develop an integrated, multidisciplinary therapy service, working closely with senior leaders, education teams and external partners to deliver outstanding outcomes for learners.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role, ideal for someone looking to combine clinical expertise with people management, service development and whole-school improvement.

The Opportunity

As Head of Therapy Services, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, providing professional leadership across a multidisciplinary therapy team while driving innovation, quality and best practice throughout the organisation.

You will play a pivotal role in embedding therapeutic approaches within education settings, championing positive behaviour support and ensuring therapy provision has a measurable impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and manage an integrated multidisciplinary therapy team.
  • Contribute as a member of the senior leadership team to the strategic direction of the school.
  • Oversee therapy quality assurance, performance management and service improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support the delivery of positive behaviour support strategies across the setting.
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate therapy outcomes and key performance indicators.
  • Support the implementation of person-centred therapeutic approaches within educational environments.
  • Lead workforce planning, staff wellbeing, supervision, training and professional development.
  • Oversee budgets, equipment resources and risk assessment processes.
  • Build strong relationships with families, external agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of therapy staff.
  • Ensure robust governance, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote collaborative working across education, care and therapy teams.

About You

We're looking for an experienced therapy professional with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.

You will have

  • Professional registration with the relevant governing body (HCPC).
  • Significant experience working within specialist education, healthcare or complex needs services.
  • Previous leadership or management experience within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong knowledge of learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and positive behaviour support approaches.
  • Experience leading service improvement and embedding best practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative, flexible and solution-focused approach.
