About the role:
The Clinical Nurse Specialists play an essential role in providing high-quality, person-centred care for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Palliative Care Nurse who wants to work in a supportive environment where care of the patients comes first.
Your main duties will be to provide direct assessment, support and advocacy to service users and carers dealing with complex, distressing and life-limiting illnesses. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring they receive timely advice and guidance. The role will be primarily based in Berkshire, with travel to the In-Patient Unit in Reading and South Oxfordshire, working a combination of day and night shifts. Responsibilities will include responding to telephone calls, offering appropriate clinical advice, and supporting the wider team to deliver high-quality care across both settings.
The successful candidate will also be expected to have a strong interest in completing their Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) course as part of their ongoing professional development. In addition, you will collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate service user records.

The successful applicant will play an active role within the team. Minimum Essential Criteria:
- NMC registered with an interest in working towards their Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
- Previous Palliative care Community experience
- Ability to support adjustments for diverse patient needs
- Skilled in accessible communication with patients and families
- Commitment to inclusion and patient advocacy
Desirable Criteria:
- Advanced communication training (e.g. Sage & Thyme)
- Experience with symptom management in complex needs
