We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time Consultant Paediatrician working for a leading Trust in Northern Ireland, UK. This will be for a 2-year fixed term contract, to work full time (10 programmed activities per week), with the potential to extend, at the second largest hospital in Northern Ireland, with teaching hospital status.
The post holder will be required to provide inpatient and outpatient paediatric & neonatal medical services, ensure high standards of clinical care by providing clear standards, advice and encouraging audit, co-ordinate medical opinion and provide clinical support for all those providing child health services. He/she will be required to identify unmet need and contribute towards the development of service provision to meet that need. The successful candidate will be required to maintain an effective and efficient multidisciplinary secondary health care team, providing clinical advice, supervise the training of doctors and medical students and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education in child health.
Key Requirements:
- Full registration with General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics or Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine) via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or European Community Rights.
- APLS and NLS (or equivalent).
- Ability to provide Consultant level emergency care in general paediatrics and neonatology, take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients and to relate/communicate with children/families/colleagues.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies, ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff, lead, organise and manage the work of a clinical department and team, effectively train and supervise medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
- Higher degree e.g. MD/PhD/MBA equivalent, MRCPCH or equivalent, formal Management Training, Research/ Publications/ Presentations would be desirable.
- Level 3 (or equivalent) training in safeguarding and experience of safeguarding work, SPIN Module in Neonatal Medicine, knowledge and experience of cardiac echo or relevant neonatal interest would be desirable.
