About the Team:
Our pension administrators support a wide range of trust‑based company schemes, including defined benefit, defined contribution, career average revalued earnings, and hybrid schemes. Services include scheme administration, communication, scam identification, payroll services, pension scheme accounting, de‑risking projects, and technical consultancy. Each team manages the entire service for each client, focusing on relationships, quality control, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and supporting other team members.
- Assisting less experienced members and authorising their work.
- Meeting deadlines and calculation/payments of scheme benefits in line with the Rules.
- Maintaining membership records and documentation.
- Applying benefit structures, Scheme Rules, pensions legislation, PSO and disclosure requirements.
- Project work as directed by the Team Leader or Manager.
- Liaising with Client, Scheme Actuary, Consultants, Providers, Pension Payroll Members and third parties.
- Providing technical information verbally and in writing.
- Ensuring compliance with ISO and AAF accreditations.
- Updating the database to keep records accurate.
- Handling member enquiries via phone, email and letter.
- Providing general support to the Administration team/manager.
- Prioritising work to meet target dates.
- Undertaking other relevant activities as directed.
Your Profile:
Essentials:
- Previous experience with Public Sector Pension Schemes (leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, monthly processing, benefit statements, increases) and Defined Benefit schemes.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (flexible for qualified applicants).
- Experience in the pensions industry.
- Demonstrated ownership, responsibility and accountability.
- Organised, methodical and logical approach to delegated responsibilities.
- Ability to develop a culture of high standards and customer responsiveness.
- Capability to develop administrators and processes.
- Knowledge reference point.
- Planning ability with flexibility.
- Proactive with drive and commitment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Can‑do attitude and pride in work.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer literate – MS Office (Excel, Word).
Qualifications:
- Maths and English GCSE or equivalent, minimum grade B/6.
- Ideally educated to A Level or equivalent (experience may compensate).
- Willingness to study for or hold a relevant pension qualification such as CPC, QPA, DPC, RPC, APMI.
Desirable:
- Good decision‑maker with strong judgement.
- Problem solver handling practical, people and political issues.
- Effective delegation skills.
- Progress in professional qualifications such as PMI, QPA, RPC, DPC, DPA.
