- Purpose of Role
- This is a varied, hands‑on engineering position working a night shift pattern:
You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across our production areas, supporting the reliability and optimisation of a wide range of complex tools and facility systems.
You will be exposed to and maintain systems including
- Pick and place robotics, CNC tools, vacuum systems, laser systems, plating lines, semiconductor systems
- Chemical and gas systems, LEV, nitrogen, compressed air, DI water, vacuum, and HVAC systems
- Key Accountabilities
- Undertake planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and facilities systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the maintenance schedule.
- Respond to production downtime events, applying structured problem‑solving methodologies to identify and resolve root causes.
- Document and record maintenance activities (preventative and reactive) to ensure traceability and knowledge capture.
- Use maintenance data to drive reliability improvements and identify trends.
- Support the Equipment Engineering Coordinator and Purchasing teams in sourcing and managing spare parts effectively.
- Collaborate across departments to support wider business improvement projects and provide timely progress updates.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, including the generation and use of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Participate in and support a call‑out system, providing out‑of‑hours response (Rota).
- Knowledge, experience and qualifications
- Minimum BTEC Level 3 in an Engineering discipline. (Electrical/Mechanical)
- Positive outlook with a strong internal drive to understand and improve machines, systems and processes
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience deploying problem solving methodologies with a track record of results
- Proactive attitude with willingness to collaborate cross‑functionally
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Appreciation and experience working to preventative maintenance schedules
- Maintenance and optimisation of automation systems
- Experience and knowledge in the upkeep and repair of Pneumatic, Mechanical & Electrical systems
- Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and associated metrics
- Experience in working to and generating documentation including change management
- Working knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Experience with programming and vision system optimisation.
- Exposure to optical, laser, or wire bonding systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC and site services maintenance.
- Experience supporting robotic systems and automated tool optimisation.
