Role: Contract Senior UX/Product Designer

Industry: Commodities Trading

Location: Central London (Hybrid, 3 days per week)

Contract: 6-month initial contract (multi-year programme)

Rate: £700-850/day (inside IR35)

X4 Technology are partnered with a leading energy trading organisation undertaking a major transformation of its trading technology and operational platforms. As part of a large-scale, multi-year programme, the business is investing heavily in the user experience across its trading, risk and operations tooling, creating modern, intuitive interfaces for highly complex workflows used by front-office and operational teams.

They are looking for an experienced Senior UX/Product Designer to lead end-to-end design activities across discovery, definition and delivery, helping shape enterprise products that improve usability, efficiency and decision-making within fast-paced trading environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end UX and product design across discovery, research, ideation, prototyping, delivery and developer handover for complex enterprise applications.
  • Conduct user research, stakeholder workshops and usability testing to understand user needs, validate solutions and drive evidence-based design decisions.
  • Create journey maps, UX flows, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes, designing intuitive, data-rich interfaces that support complex trading and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, business analysts, product managers and developers to deliver user-centred solutions while balancing business, technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion usability, accessibility and design system best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality user experiences across products.
  • Contribute to the growth of the design function through mentoring, peer reviews and continuous improvement of design processes and ways of working.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years' commercial experience across UX, UI or Product Design, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise products through the full design lifecycle.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design, complex problem-solving and measurable business impact across data-rich applications, workflow tools or operational platforms.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and FigJam, with experience using design systems, interactive prototyping and modern UX best practices.
  • Strong experience in user research, usability testing and workshop facilitation, with the ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders and specialist users.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence cross-functional teams and balance user, business and technical requirements.
  • Experience within Commodities Trading, Energy Trading, Capital Markets or other financial services environments would be highly advantageous.
