The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity for a relationship-driven business development leader with deep ties to the UK building society sector. You’ll play a critical role in expanding the company’s footprint within this strategically important market, leveraging your network and sector insight to open new doors, craft tailored propositions, and build enduring partnerships. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role—ideal for a commercially sharp, consultative professional who thrives on relationship-building and strategic influence.
Please note: This is an in-person, relationship-centric position requiring five days per week in the London office or on client site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development across UK building societies—owning the full sales lifecycle from initial engagement through to close.
- Use your market insight and established relationships to identify opportunities and accelerate growth.
- Partner closely with senior decision-makers (including C-suite executives) to co-create digital transformation strategies aligned to their objectives.
- Position the company’s cloud-native and AI-enabled financial platforms as solutions to the most pressing operational and customer challenges in the sector.
- Collaborate with product, delivery, and marketing teams to design compelling go-to-market approaches and ensure exceptional client outcomes.
- Represent the company at high-profile industry events, roundtables, and conferences to deepen its presence and reputation in the building society community.
- Maintain a current understanding of sector trends, including regulatory developments, member engagement strategies, and emerging technology adoption.
Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in financial services, fintech, or strategic consulting, with demonstrable success in new business development.
- Proven track record of selling into or partnering with UK building societies—and ideally, an existing network of senior contacts across the sector.
- Strong understanding of the commercial, operational, and regulatory priorities facing mutuals today.
- Experience managing complex enterprise sales cycles and navigating multi-stakeholder environments.
- Background in top-tier consulting (Big 3 / Big 4) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with digital, data, or AI-driven financial technologies is a plus.
- Highly motivated, relationship-led self-starter with outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
