Role: Senior Product Control Analyst – Gas & Power

Location: London (hybrid)

Salary: Up to £65,000 DOE

An established and fast-growing energy trading business is seeking a Senior Product Control Analyst to join their high-performing team. This is a key role focused on daily P&L reporting and analysis of complex Gas and Power trading activities across UK and European markets.

You\’ll be central to understanding and influencing the performance of their trading activity – assessing valuation, attributing profit and loss and uncovering the real-world impact of positions, exposures and strategies.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Product Control Analyst include:

  • Own and manage daily P&L reporting, valuation analysis and risk attribution across trading books
  • Develop and enhance risk frameworks and performance insights to support trading and commercial decision-making
  • Automate processes and reporting using tools such as Excel VBA, SQL, Python, Power BI and others
  • Act as a subject matter expert on financial risk, providing business intelligence to stakeholders across trading, finance and risk functions
  • Collaborate with trading desks, finance, and IT to deliver solutions that enhance data quality, process efficiency and strategic insigh
  • Lead or contribute to key projects, including market analysis, model development and risk system improvements

Key Requirements of the Senior Product Control Analyst include:

  • Proven experience in a product control, P&L or financial reporting role within a commodity trading environment
  • Strong understanding of gas and power markets and associated trading instruments
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments (Derivatives, FX, Futures, Swaps, Options and Option Greeks)
  • Solid knowledge of P&L attribution, valuation techniques and trading lifecycle
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: Excel/Excel VBA, SQL/SSIS, Python or Power BI
  • Familiarity with ETRM systems and trading analytics tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with commercial and control teams
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
