NetBackup Administrator (6-Month Contract, Outside IR35) Location: Contract Type: 6 Months, Outside IR35 Start Date: ASAP Work Pattern: 2 days per week onsite, remainder remote NetBackup Engineer About the Role We are seeking an experienced NetBackup Administrator for a 6-month contract role supporting a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP). This position requires a deep understanding of Veritas NetBackup environments and associated technologies, with a strong focus on backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. The successful candidate will be working predominantly remotely but is expected to be onsite in Leeds 2 days per week to collaborate closely with the client and onsite teams. NetBackup Engineer Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, or Python for backup task automation, log analysis, and system monitoring Manage Docker-based NetBackup container instances and Linux servers supporting backup infrastructure Troubleshoot and resolve storage, networking, and connectivity issues related to backup environments Implement and monitor security best practices including RBAC, encryption, firewall configurations, and integration with MFA, Active Directory, and CyberArk Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies ensuring data resilience Manage hybrid cloud backup solutions using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms Oversee database backup solutions, specifically SQL Server and Oracle RMAN NetBackup Engineer Required Skills & Experience Strong scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation and monitoring Hands-on experience with Linux administration and containerization technologies (Docker) Solid understanding of networking protocols and storage configurations within backup environments Experience with cloud backup solutions on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Disaster recovery planning and execution Database backup administration for SQL Server and Oracle RMAN Ability to work independently and onsite in Leeds 2 days per week
