Full-Time Engineering consultancy specialising in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the energy and utilities landscape. With a strong track record in Ireland and a growing presence across the UK, the business supports clients through the full project lifecycle from early-stage concept and design through to construction and commissioning.

Sectors include water, gas networks, renewables, and broader utilities infrastructure, where reliability, efficiency, and long-term asset performance are key.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the Utilities and Water sectors. This is a senior position suited to an individual with strong technical expertise in mechanical design, combined with a passion for leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.

The successful candidate will act as both a technical authority and a leader, guiding project delivery while supporting and developing junior and intermediate engineers.

  • Lead mechanical design activities across water and utilities projects, from concept through to detailed design and commissioning.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in mechanical systems typically used in water and utilities infrastructure.
  • Lead, mentor, and support engineers within the team—sharing knowledge and fostering professional development.
  • Manage project deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and building strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to bid development, technical proposals, and project planning.

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Significant experience in mechanical design within the Utilities and/or Water sector. Proven experience leading projects and/or engineering teams (or a strong desire to step into a leadership role). Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design including pumps, pipework, valves, and treatment processes. Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
