Senior FPGA Engineer – AI & Neural Network Acceleration

Our client is developing next-generation neural network acceleration technology and is seeking an exceptional FPGA Engineer to join a highly talented team working at the cutting edge of AI compute architectures. This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing high-performance FPGA solutions that will power advanced machine learning and neural network applications.
The Role
You will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimisation and verification of FPGA-based systems focused on AI inference and neural network acceleration. Working alongside hardware, software and algorithm specialists, you will contribute to the development of innovative architectures that deliver industry-leading performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- FPGA design and development using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog
- Implementation of neural network and machine learning acceleration architectures
- RTL design, simulation, synthesis and timing closure
- Performance optimisation of high-speed digital systems
- Integration of high-bandwidth interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet and SerDes
- Verification and validation of FPGA designs
- Collaboration with software and AI teams to optimise hardware/software performance
- Contributing to architectural decisions for future AI hardware platforms
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience in FPGA development
- Expert knowledge of VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog
- Experience with Xilinx AMD and/or Intel FPGA toolchains
- Strong understanding of digital signal processing and computer architecture
- Experience with RTL simulation, verification and debugging tools
- Knowledge of high-speed interfaces and memory architectures
- Understanding of timing analysis and FPGA optimisation techniques
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related discipline
Highly Desirable
- Experience implementing neural networks or AI acceleration on FPGA platforms
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and AI workloads
- Experience with High-Level Synthesis (HLS)
- Exposure to ASIC development flows
- Python, C/C++ or embedded software development experience
- Experience with data centre, edge AI or high-performance computing applications
