A Cambridge based company developing life-saving technology is looking to appoint a Mechanical Engineering & Design Office Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping how mechanical design is delivered across the business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead by example, remaining technically engaged while owning the structure, standards, tools, and people that enable high-quality mechanical design in a regulated environment.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of mechanical engineers and engineering administrators
  • Owning work planning, delivery, and continuous improvement within your domain
  • Managing configuration management, ECNs, and full lifecycle traceability
  • Acting as the main point of contact for mechanical design activities across the business
  • Overseeing supplier relationships, budgets, tools, and engineering systems
  • Ensuring processes, procedures, and standards are clearly documented and followed
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends, technologies, and opportunities

  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality mechanical design, ideally in a regulated environment
  • Strong experience with configuration management, PLM/PDM systems, and change control
