Day Rate: Up to £250/day (OUTSIDE IR35)
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in Glasgow)
Contract Length: 3-6 Months
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver field engineering installation, commissioning, maintenance, and 1st line support activities across strategic telecoms and IP networks within utility environments.
- Ensure all projects and maintenance tasks are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with client and Vodafone quality standards.
- Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot telecoms and networking equipment including Cisco, Alcatel, SDH, PDH, MPLS, radio, and IP telephony systems.
- Complete project documentation, risk assessments, test records, maintenance reports, and communicate progress updates to project engineers and stakeholders.
- Provide 24x7x365 support and routine maintenance activities, responding promptly to faults, outages, and service requests while meeting SLA targets.
Required Experience
- Proven experience in telecoms field engineering, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance of DC chargers, SDH/PDH, microwave radio, and IP networking systems.
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, MPLS, routing and switching, with hands-on experience of Cisco and Alcatel products.
- Ability to test, fault-find, and maintain telecoms infrastructure including fibre, pilot cables, IP telephony, and utility communication systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence with the ability to work independently, travel to sites, and operate within high-voltage substation environments.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills with a positive attitude and commitment to health & safety standards.
