Contract: Initial 6-month contract (long-term transformation programme)

Rate: £800-1,000/day (Inside IR35, flexible for the right candidate)

X4 Technology are partnered with a leading global energy trading organisation delivering a strategic listed derivatives trading platform supporting electronic trading, exchange connectivity, trading front ends, settlement workflows and algorithmic trading. The platform is expanding across new commodities (Energy, Power, etc) and international markets, with a roadmap focused on systematic trading, quant infrastructure, real-time market data, and latency optimisation.

They are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong front-office trading technology experience to support traders directly while driving DevOps and infrastructure improvements across Azure and co-located trading environments.

Responsibilities of the Senior DevOps Engineer (Front Office Trading Systems)
  • Provide desk-based support to traders and front-office users, acting as the first point of contact for production issues.
  • Support and improve listed derivatives trading platforms, exchange connectivity, OMS/EMS systems and electronic trading workflows.
  • Drive DevOps practices across Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and containerised environments.
  • Improve platform reliability, automation, monitoring and performance, including latency optimisation.
  • Work closely with engineering, product and trading teams to support platform evolution.
Requirements for the Senior DevOps Engineer (Front Office Trading Systems)
  • Strong experience supporting front-office trading systems within commodities, capital markets or investment banking.
  • Proven experience in listed derivatives trading environments with direct trader support exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of FIX protocols, exchange connectivity and OMS/EMS platforms (Trading Technologies preferred).
  • Experience with real-time market data platforms and trading infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Argo), Python and TypeScript.
  • Experience supporting low-latency, high-performance production environments.
  • C++ experience is desirable.
