We are seeking an experienced Signal Processing and algorithmic Systems Modelling Engineer to support the development of advanced communication, sensing and positioning technologies. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with strong MATLAB/Simulink expertise and a background in algorithm development, RF systems, signal processing and system modelling.

Working closely with Architecture, Software, Systems and Quality teams, you will develop and validate system models, perform trade‑off studies and contribute to the design of complex engineering solutions from concept through to verification.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models for system-level modelling, simulation and performance analysis.
  • Design, develop and validate acquisition, tracking and signal processing algorithms.
  • Support Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) studies, including algorithm development, resilience analysis and system trade-offs.
  • Integrate AI tools into engineering, modelling, simulation and test activities to improve development efficiency and capability.
  • Perform RF system modelling, link budget analysis, sensitivity analysis and system trade‑off studies.
  • Support the definition of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and system architecture activities.
  • Assist in the capture, management and traceability of system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Produce technical reports and present simulation results and engineering recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Systems Engineering, Software, Firmware, RF and Quality function.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified (BEng, MEng or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in systems modelling, simulation or systems engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for modelling, simulation and algorithm development.
  • Excellent understanding of statistical signal processing, including spectral estimation and subspace decomposition techniques.
  • Experience with phased array processing, beamforming, tracking algorithms and Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) techniques.
  • Experience modelling RF or communication systems, including link budget analysis and channel modelling.
  • Demonstrable experience leveraging AI tools within engineering, modelling, simulation and testing environments.
  • Familiarity with CONOPS development and requirements definition within a Systems Engineering framework.
  • Knowledge of structured engineering lifecycle and systems engineering best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with an organised, collaborative and problem-solving approach.
  • Python and/or C++ for algorithm development and rapid prototyping.
  • Sensor fusion, Kalman filtering and closed-loop control system design.
  • Experience implementing algorithms on FPGA platforms.
  • Experience developing complex embedded, communications, sensing or autonomous systems.
