We are seeking a Process Engineer with strong process design and project delivery experience to support engineering projects across the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors. This role focuses on the design, development, and optimisation of GMP manufacturing processes and facilities, supporting projects from concept and feasibility through FEED and detailed design. The successful candidate will contribute to the design of pharmaceutical production systems, clean utilities, and process infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while delivering efficient, scalable solutions.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in translating process requirements into robust engineering designs that support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process engineering designs for pharmaceutical and life sciences manufacturing systems
- Produce and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and process design documentation
- Perform mass and energy balances, process calculations, and equipment sizing
- Prepare equipment specifications and datasheets for process systems and utilities
- Support concept, feasibility, FEED, and detailed engineering design stages
- Contribute to the design of GMP manufacturing facilities and cleanroom process environments
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
- Work with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, automation, and validation engineers
- Support process scale-up, technology transfer, and process validation activities
- Provide technical input during installation, commissioning, and start-up
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Biochemical Engineering
- Experience working in life sciences engineering environment or consulting environment
- Demonstrable experience delivering process engineering design documentation
- Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing and regulated environments
- Experience performing process calculations, equipment sizing, and system design
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams delivering engineering projects
Desirable Experience
- Experience designing biopharmaceutical, sterile, or API manufacturing processes
- Experience with CIP/SIP system design
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical facility design projects or capital expansions
- Exposure to process modelling or simulation tools
