The Role
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, optimisation, and scale-up of high-volume automated manufacturing systems. Working closely with operations, quality, and product teams, you will deliver automation projects that improve performance while ensuring full compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on senior role combining automation, manufacturing engineering, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation and manufacturing engineering projects across high-volume production lines
- Design, implement, and optimise automated assembly and process control solutions
- Support the industrialisation of new products, transitioning designs into stable, scalable manufacturing processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, throughput, yield, and cost
- Act as a technical authority for process changes, validation activities, and risk assessments
- Lead structured root-cause problem-solving and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliance with regulated manufacturing standards
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and production team
About You
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Automation, Electrical, Controls, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Significant experience in automated, high-volume manufacturing environments
- Background in medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or similarly regulated industries
- Proven project delivery experience across the full engineering lifecycle
- Strong understanding of process validation, change control, and manufacturing compliance
- Experience with Lean / Six Sigma or structured continuous improvement methodologies
- Comfortable operating as a senior technical contributor in a fast-paced environment
