We are recruiting for an experienced Art Director / Senior Art Director to join a leading medical communications agency in London. This is a creative role combining concept development and hands-on design execution, working across global pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare clients. The role requires someone who can translate complex scientific and medical content into clear, engaging, and visually compelling creative work across multiple channels. The ideal candidate will have strong agency experience and a portfolio demonstrating both conceptual thinking and high-quality execution within a medical communications agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strong, insight-led creative concepts for healthcare and pharmaceutical communications
- Lead art direction across campaigns including print, digital, congress materials, and omnichannel assets
- Translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear and engaging visual storytelling
- Produce high-quality design work across brand campaigns, medical education materials, and HCP-facing content
- Present creative concepts internally and to clients with confidence
- Work closely with medical writers, strategists, and account teams to ensure scientific accuracy and creative alignment
- Contribute to pitch work and new business creative development where required
- Maintain strong attention to detail, ensuring high standards across all deliverables
- Support and mentor junior creatives where appropriate
Key Requirements
- 4-10+ years’ experience in art direction, design, or integrated creative roles within an agency environment
- Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and executional excellence
- Experience in medical communications, healthcare advertising, pharma, or life sciences
- Ability to interpret complex scientific or technical content and simplify visually
