Overview

X4 Life Sciences is seeking a talented and proactive PLC Engineer to join an innovative, growth-focused company based in Wiltshire. This is a hands-on, fully on-site role where you’ll lead in installing, commissioning, and continuously enhancing essential plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for rolling upgrades of plant and equipment
  • Manage projects for installation and commissioning of new systems—HVAC, steam, chillers—delivering on time and maximizing business value
  • Develop and maintain automation software on-site, with a focus on BMS, EMS, and PLC systems
  • Monitor project progress, communicate with key stakeholders, and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Troubleshoot and implement improvements for plant equipment including refrigeration, steam boilers, vacuum systems, HVAC, and water treatment
  • Oversee project budgets and engage with all relevant stakeholders
  • Champion a proactive risk management culture—identify, mitigate, and eliminate risks where possible

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in process control systems, including but not limited to:
    • PLC programming (AB Rockwell, Siemens)
    • SCADA systems, especially Rockwell Historian
    • CAD software
    • Trend BMS / Set, Lighthouse EMS, JDEdwards (experience is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within regulated environments
