This is a rare opportunity to join as a first technical hire (Founding Engineer) at an early-stage wearable technology startup focused on ushering in a new era of health, tech and AI consumer use. You will be instrumental in co-designing and building a signature MVP from scratch with the Founder & CEO. Someone with big ideas but a keen eye for detail would be ideal. This is a paid, part-time consultancy role demanding 1 day a month initially with the possibility of much more if the MVP is successful.
You will be providing one-on-one counsel to the Founder who has a strong wellness and healthcare vision for game-changing wearable devices, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge and 13+ years delivering medical consulting for top-tier Pharma and Tech giants within both corporate environments and through agile consulting expertise. Your technical expertise will complement the Founder’s strong scientific and clinical expertise. With a relentless passion for accuracy within big-picture health, the Founder is committed to extreme field testing. They personally validate sensor performance in diverse conditions, ranging from high-intensity training and aquatic environments to sedentary office settings.
This is ideal for someone currently working within a corporate or other full-time setting who has a passion for ‘thinking big’ and refining the next generation of HealthTech. You will provide expertise on MVP design and build in stages across several 1-day consulting instalments in the lead up to fundraising:
- Concept and feasibility
- Architecture & requirements (blueprint)
- Planning and costs
- Hardware prototyping
- Testing and validation
Initial planning stages working with the Founder will be conducted remotely or with an optional London-based space or on-site manufacturing workstation once the hardware prototyping stage is reached.
Key Counsel Needed:
- Step-by-step plan on building the MVP to match the Founder’s vision
- Cost calculations to build the MVP
- Recommendations on multiple avenues to test technical features in the lead up to the MVP build
- Versatile mindset with the expectation to design, test, refine before we showcase a successful product to investors
- Consideration of efficiency across manufacturing options
About You

What’s on Offer
Within the initial phase:
- Limited paid consulting days with a competitive fixed fee and flexibility around your full-time commitments.
- Opportunity to ‘join brains’ with a Founder who has wide-reaching healthcare and tech experience.
After the 3 months of consultancy:
- Discretionary bonus options based on a successful partnership. This could be a cash bonus, equity in the company, co-founding routes, or long-term role.
