We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Hydraulic Engineer with strong experience in InfoWorks ICM (1D and 2D modelling) to join a growing team delivering wastewater and environmental modelling projects across the UK, with a particular focus on Catchment System Assessment (CSA) programmes. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while playing a key part in supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and engaging directly with clients.

The Role

As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you will take responsibility for the technical delivery of hydraulic modelling projects, supporting Project Managers and Principal Engineers in delivering high-quality outputs across a range of wastewater programmes. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing your expertise to solve complex network and environmental challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, updating, and maintaining 1D and 2D hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM
  • Undertaking model verification, calibration, and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Analysing model outputs to identify network performance issues, including flooding, capacity constraints, and pollution risks
  • Supporting solution development and optioneering, including storm overflow and network improvement strategies
  • Working with and interpreting survey data (flow surveys, rainfall data, CCTV, asset records)
  • Producing high-quality technical reports, figures, and model documentation
  • Generating mapping and outputs using GIS tools such as MapInfo
  • Supporting the delivery of CSA projects across the UK

Project & Client Responsibilities

  • Supporting Project Managers in delivering projects to time, cost, and quality requirements
  • Participating in client meetings, providing technical input and updates
  • Communicating modelling findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contributing to project planning, risk management, and programme tracking

Team & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and modellers
  • Reviewing and checking the work of others to ensure technical quality and consistency
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and best practice across the team
  • Contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
