We are seeking an experienced Water / MOICA Engineer to join a growing engineering and delivery team supporting a strong pipeline of AMP and framework projects across the UK water sector.
This role is ideal for someone with broad water industry experience who understands how water treatment and water movement systems work across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process environments. Depending on the successful candidate’s background, the position could suit a Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, Design Manager, Mechanical Project Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer, or a well-rounded Water Engineer with turnkey project experience.
The business operates as a turnkey MOICA engineering partner for the water industry, delivering projects from concept engineering and detailed design through to construction support and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engineering solutions across clean water and, increasingly, dirty water projects.
- Support projects through the full lifecycle including concept design, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning.
- Provide technical input across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process-related disciplines.
- Coordinate and support multidisciplinary engineering activities on water treatment and infrastructure projects.
- Work closely with project engineers, design teams, clients, and delivery partners.
- Support framework and AMP programme delivery for UK water utility clients.
- For senior-level candidates, provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior and existing project engineers.
- Assist in developing engineering standards, best practice, and delivery capability within the business.
- Contribute to project planning, technical reviews, risk identification, and client engagement activities.
The business currently delivers work across a range of water utility and infrastructure frameworks including projects associated with:
- Severn Trent-style framework delivery
- Northumbrian Water
- Essex & Suffolk Water
- South West Water
- Portsmouth Water
- Welsh Water
- MOD / Ancala-related schemes
- Canal Authority infrastructure projects
Current focus areas are primarily within clean water treatment, with planned expansion into dirty water infrastructure, including pump and gearbox-related works.
Candidate RequirementsEssential:- Strong experience within the UK water industry.
- Understanding of water treatment processes and water movement systems.
- Experience working on water-sector engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Broad appreciation of multidisciplinary engineering including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process environments.
- Ability to work within project delivery teams and contribute across multiple project phases.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working for major water contractors or delivery partners such as Costain, Bentley, NMCM, Northwind Construction, or similar organisations.
- Background working directly for water utilities, treatment works operations, maintenance teams, or as a process technician.
- Clean water treatment experience.
- Dirty water / wastewater experience.
- Construction delivery or site-based project experience.
- Leadership or mentoring experience for more senior applicants.
- Experience supporting AMP or framework-based delivery programmes.
We are particularly interested in practical engineers who understand how water infrastructure operates in the real world. Candidates do not need to be deep specialists across every engineering discipline; however, a strong operational and engineering understanding of water treatment systems is essential.
This is an opportunity to join a growing business with a strong project pipeline and play a key role in shaping future engineering capability within the team.
