We are looking to hire an experienced degree / HND (or equivalent), qualified electronics engineer, who has a proven long career developing analogue, digital and power electronics. This is a full time position, working on-site and as part of a small specialised development team. Working in a small business, the successful candidate will continue the development of existing products and use their extensive skills and experience to develop new products, key to our business of manufacturing high voltage generators, microfocus x-ray sources and their control electronics systems.

Must have:

  • Digital & analogue circuit design
  • Power & control electronics experience
  • Experience with test & debugging tools, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers
  • Circuit simulation and analysis with LT spice
  • Schematic capture and layout with Cadence OrCAD
  • Microcontroller programming in C, Microchip PIC MCU/ dsPIC / Arm with MPLAB
  • Protocol design and implementation
  • Communication Protocol implementation
  • Design and implement comms layers for hardware interfacing via e.g. RS232, USB, Canbus
  • Experienced supporting / working with Production / manufacturing, to enable transition from product prototype through to small batch production
  • Ability to document your own work to a high standard and provide production with high quality build and test procedures
  • Creation of HMI test/Demo applications/interfaces for a mostly windows environment
  • An interest in electronics & engineering, have a Can-do attitude, be willing to learn, to research and teach themselves new skills and ways to do new things
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Good communication, to be open and willing to involve others, to keep others informed of their progress and to keep current with the other projects / activities in the business around them

Advantageous:

  • Competency in C# sharp and/or Python programming
  • API development/Hardware abstraction layers for Win32/Linux IOCTL
  • Knowledge of EMC compliance and testing, International market standards and compliance
  • High voltage electronics experience
  • Switch-mode power-supply design, resonant circuits
