We are a newly established accounting and advisory firm based in London, offering professional services to a broad range of clients. As our team continues to grow, we are looking for a diligent and experienced Bookkeeper who can also handle basic accounting functions, work collaboratively within the team, and provide essential support to senior accountants and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Process supplier invoices, client billing, and credit control activities
  • Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
  • Support in the preparation of management accounts and reports
  • Liaise with clients and respond to day-to-day queries professionally
  • Collaborate with the internal team and report directly to senior accountants and management
  • Answer client telephone calls and support communication as part of the client service process

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or accounting support role
  • Proficiency in UK bookkeeping practices, VAT rules, and basic financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with popular accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero)
  • Strong Excel and IT skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and take direction from senior staff
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial data
  • Membership with a recognised UK accounting body such as AAT or IAB – preferred

Working Conditions

  • Standard working hours: 37.5 hours/week (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 1-hour lunch break)
  • Occasional overtime may be required, particularly around tax deadlines (time off in lieu available)
