Wyvil Primary School is an exciting and innovative two form entry school situated in the centre of London, based across three buildings. We have two mainstream sites with integrated resource base classes for children with Autism and Speech and Language needs, and an Autism Resource Base in Kennington. Our teacher ratio enables high quality teaching and learning whilst promoting staff leadership and professional development. We have embedded a coaching culture across the school, enabling staff to have regular opportunities for reflective practice, active listening and high quality questioning.
We are looking to appoint an aspirational, hardworking and caring Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and ambitious school.
The role will involve:
- supporting pupils with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs within a Resource Base environment and the wider school;
- delivering targeted Speech and Language interventions, including: RWI Phonics, Colourful Semantics, Attention Autism, Social Skills sessions, Turn-taking interventions;
- supporting pupils during class-based learning and wider school activities;
- working closely with the class teacher, Speech and Language Therapist and Early Reading Lead to deliver high quality provision;
- contributing to planning, preparation and assessment of interventions every week;
- supporting the implementation and monitoring of individual targets;
- creating a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all pupils across the school.
You will:
- have experience in delivering Phonics and/or SALT provision;
- work flexibly within a collaborative and supportive team;
- build positive and meaningful relationships with children;
- have a strong interest in SEND, communication and language development;
- be reflective, proactive and willing to learn;
- support children to develop their communication, independence and social interaction skills;
- work closely with therapists and teaching staff to ensure consistency across interventions and classroom practice;
- have high expectations for all pupils.
