Wyvil Primary School is an exciting and innovative school situated in the centre of London, based in three buildings. We have a dedicated Autism Resource Base in Kennington and two mainstream sites with integrated resource base classes for children with Autism and Speech and Language needs.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic and aspirational leader with proven SEND teaching experience who wishes to further develop or establish their leadership journey. This will be an ideal role for someone whose next steps would be a Senior Leadership role such as Assistant Head or Deputy Head.

As a leader, you will:

  • Model best teaching and learning practice for children with SEND, particularly Autism and Speech and Language, as a class teacher, within other Resource Base classes and the wider school;
  • Drive strategic change by being forward thinking, reflective and aspirational;
  • Have a holistic approach to learning to enable all children to make demonstrable progress in both academic learning and Personal, Social and Emotional development;
  • Have consistently high expectations of yourself and others so that behaviour, inclusivity and children’s learning are of the highest standard;
  • Lead a strategic area across the SEND provision, such as curriculum, assessment, teaching and learning;
  • Take leadership responsibility including supporting other leaders with the day to day running of the site;
  • Design and deliver meetings and training for staff and hold all staff to account;
  • Understand how to support children in the early stages of communication effectively (e.g. PECS, Widgit Online, Intensive Interaction, ALD devices);
  • Implement and review strategies to support children’s educational health care plans;
  • Be prepared to work flexibly as part of a collaborative partnership.

At Wyvil we can offer you:

  • The development of leadership skills and strategies to enable you to take the next step into senior leadership, such as assistant, deputy or head teacher;
  • The opportunity to share ideas in a school which is striving to be at the forefront of best SEND practice;
  • A forward thinking and inclusive team;
  • Opportunities for specific SEND training and development;
  • The chance to work with a range of external agencies and specialists;
  • Opportunities to support others to deliver exceptional learning opportunities for all children through a variety of strategies including coaching;
  • Opportunities to plan and deliver creative and adaptive learning and activities to enable children with SEND, particularly Autism and Speech and Language, to learn;
  • Amazing children, with a passion for learning;
  • A welcoming community who have our children’s best interests at heart;
  • An exciting opportunity to work across three sites including resource bases for children with speech and language needs, and autism;
  • The chance to be part of a wider school federation;
  • The opportunity to work in different learning spaces to support different areas of learning for children with SEND (e.g. calm area, sensory room, library).
