Working 17.5 hours per week on a fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027, you’ll help deliver meaningful, grassroots community development activity across Wythenshawe, working alongside partners, tenants, and colleagues to support strong, sustainable communities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering community development activities using Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) principles, supporting tenants and residents to build on strengths and take action on local priorities.
  • Working closely with tenants, community groups, colleagues and partners to understand local needs, aspirations and challenges.
  • Supporting neighbourhood‑based approaches that promote tenancy sustainability, prevent homelessness and enhance wellbeing.
  • Helping source funding, resources and commitments from partners to expand community initiatives.
  • Promoting safeguarding best practice and ensuring safe, inclusive delivery of all activities.
  • Coordinating community projects and events, using community assets creatively and ensuring they are welcoming and accessible.
  • Building strong partnerships with voluntary sector organisations, agencies and local stakeholders to maximise impact.
  • Representing WCHG at community forums, meetings and local partnership groups.
  • Supporting tenant engagement and ensuring the customer voice shapes improvements to services and community initiatives.
  • Contributing to data collection, reporting and continuous improvement activities within the Community Development team.

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong understanding of the housing sector and community development approaches, including ABCD.
  • Demonstrable experience working with tenants, residents, community groups or the voluntary/third sector to deliver community‑focused outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to engage confidently with individuals, groups, partners and stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for social equity, community empowerment and improving customer experience.
  • Ability to build positive relationships, develop partnerships and represent the organisation professionally.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, plan effectively and remain resilient during busy periods.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, IT skills and an ability to analyse and use data to support decision‑making.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing and health & safety requirements relating to community‑based work.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use (or another practical means of travel locally).
