Overview

Purpose of the job

We are looking for someone to join the Strategy and Enabling team to lead and support on a number of projects that develop services, strategies, policies and procedures across the remit of the Strategic Growth team with a focus on housing and related services. You will have the opportunity to work alongside partner organisations, undertake research work and develop good working relationships with landlords, all of which will help to develop our services. You will need to confidently lead and drive forward projects and initiatives surrounding housing, homelessness, and domestic abuse.

Day to day tasks are wide and varied and include the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the Housing Manager to deliver new housing in partnership with Registered Providers, Developers, Agents, Planning colleagues, Homes England and other relevant partners.
  • Oversee the management of temporary accommodation units to ensure compliance, including working with property owners and supporting access to the private rented sector for customers.
  • Use IT systems to support performance management and to support the business around rent accounts and income collection.
  • Confidently lead and drive forward projects and initiatives, undertake research, and manage a small team of officers.

Qualifications and experience

The successful candidate should have a good standard of education (preferably degree level) and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience working with customers, landlords or similar. Membership of CIH and previous experience in managing or leading staff is desirable. You will be self-motivated, a strategic thinker and have excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to communicate effectively with team members and the general public.

Contract and benefits

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of £38,760 – £41,343 per annum. Appointment is usually at the bottom of the salary band with annual increments until the top of the scale is reached.

Requirements and work arrangements

You will be required to provide a suitable vehicle for the duties of this post and maintain a flexible approach to working hours, including availability for evening meetings and work outside normal office hours when necessary. You may need to work outside normal office hours from time to time to meet the needs of the service and be able to undertake the full range of duties for the contracted hours. This role may require access to and inspection of properties and physical effort and mobility on a frequent basis. You will need to meet the physical demands of the job. Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory clearance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check. You will need to provide a suitable vehicle and your car insurance should cover business use.
