In April 2023, Wyre Council appointed a new and ambitious Chief Executive to lead the council’s next chapter and a focus on a brand new and ambitious Council Plan.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Housing Options Team working as a key part of the frontline team, providing advice and assistance to clients who present to the service as either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
We are looking to recruit a full time permanent Senior Housing Options Advisor to assist the Housing Options Team Leader, supervise the team, undertake homeless assessments and make legal decisions to clients presenting to the service.
Working in Housing Options provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people in need of help and makes a fundamental difference to our local community.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the team of Housing Options Advisors and supervising their work ensuring compliance with homelessness legislation and case law.
- Preventing homelessness by offering innovative solutions to help clients to either remain in their homes or to help them find alternative accommodation.
- Using problem solving and analytical skills to interpret and apply homeless legislation.
- Working as part of a team to produce innovative solutions and be forward thinking to help develop the service
What You’ll Need
- The desire and ability to support and motivate the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of carrying out robust enquiries.
- Competency to decide homelessness applications with a good understanding of Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended), the code of guidance and case law or substantial experience of preventing homelessness with a particular focus on the private rented sector.
- The ability to provide excellent outcomes for vulnerable clients, and high-quality customer service.
- A full current UK driving licence.
- An enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service (paid for by us)
