Wyre Council is seeking a hardworking and reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to support the delivery of essential frontline environmental services across the borough. This is a key operational role within our Street Cleansing service, helping to keep Wyre clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive and operate HGV and other service vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out mechanised street cleansing, bin emptying and general cleaning duties.
  • Provide direction and support to colleagues working alongside the vehicle.
  • Respond to environmental issues, including the removal and safe disposal of fly‑tipped waste.
  • Undertake general labouring and loading duties associated with street cleansing operations.
  • Maintain a vigilant presence across the borough to help deter environmental crime and anti‑social behaviour.
  • Operate equipment, plant and machinery in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Act professionally and courteously when always dealing with members of the public.

What We’re Looking For

  • A current, valid HGV class 2 (C) driving licence.
  • Previous experience working in a street cleaning, street scene or similar operational environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety at work and safe working practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to undertake outdoor manual duties.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
