Wyre Council is seeking a motivated and capable Estates Assistant to join our Property & Development Projects Service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of the Council’s diverse property portfolio and support the delivery of key Council objectives.
About the Role
You will support the Estates Surveyors in delivering an effective estates management service across a wide-ranging portfolio of land and buildings, including operational, non‑operational and investment properties. You will play an important role in maintaining the Council’s property records, supporting transactions, and helping to ensure the portfolio is managed in line with best practice and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of the Council’s land and property portfolio.
- Maintain accurate estate terrier records and property data systems.
- Support the acquisition, sale and disposal of land and assist with negotiations.
- Help manage landlord and tenant matters across lower value properties, including lettings, lease renewals, licences and rent reviews.
- Undertake site visits and property inspections as required.
- Assist with market, allotment and mooring tenancy management, including service charge and rent administration.
- Process invoices, sundry debtor and creditor claims relating to investment properties.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, external partners and professional consultants.
- Support revaluations for NNDR purposes and liaise with the Council’s rating agent.
- Prepare reports for Portfolio Holders and Council Committees when required.
- Deputise for Estates Surveyors as appropriate.
About You
You will be a proactive and organised individual with a genuine interest in estates or property management. You will be able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- Educated to A Level or BTEC standard.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate sound experience in estates or property-related work.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and excellent customer service.
- Reliable and flexible approach to work.
- Degree-level education.
- Experience of working with a commercial property portfolio.
- Experience of working for or with a public sector organisation.
- Knowledge of property management legislation.
- Willingness to work towards AssocRICS.
