Join Wyre Council’s Environmental Protection Team! Are you organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellent customer service? We’re looking for an Administrative Assistant to support our Environmental Protection Department.
About The Role
The Environmental Protection Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Environmental Protection Department at Wyre Council. This position involves a wide range of administrative and clerical duties, including managing service requests and complaints, maintaining accurate records, handling correspondence, and providing excellent customer service to both internal teams and the public. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and business support across the department
- Manage inboxes, log complaints and service requests, and liaise with officers
- Compile and issue standard letters (e.g. ASB/neighbour noise)
- Administer the Noise App and handle telephone enquiries
- Update webpages and maintain accurate computerised records
- Assist with planning, licensing, land searches, and data requests (FOI, EIR, Subject Access)
- Support budget administration and minute meetings
- Provide cover for Community Safety when required
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with strong administrative skills and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have excellent computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office, and be comfortable managing records, handling correspondence, and providing outstanding customer service.
Essential Requirements
- Good standard of education
- Ability to undertake general office procedures (manual and computerised records, filing systems, photocopying, emails, invoicing, etc.)
- High levels of computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to use initiative and work without supervision
Desirable
- Experience working within a relevant office environment
- Experience using relevant computer systems such as Word, Excel, IDOX, EDRMS
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Experience applying excellent customer care skills in providing a service to the public
- Experience using financial and other web-based systems
