Wynnstay Group is seeking an FP&A Analyst to support financial planning, reporting and analysis across our Retail and Manufacturing operations.

This is an opportunity for a recently qualified or near-qualified accountant to develop their analytical and commercial skills. We welcome applications from CIMA, ACCA or ACA candidates looking to take their next step into financial planning and analysis.

Reporting to the Group Commercial Accountant, you’ll help prepare budgets, forecasts and performance reports, turning financial data into clear, useful insights. You’ll explore sales, margins, operational costs and working capital, helping colleagues understand performance and make informed decisions.

Working with the wider Finance team and colleagues across the business, you’ll learn how our operations work and develop your confidence in interpreting results, investigating trends and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with annual budgets, regular forecasts and financial planning.

  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting across sales, margins, costs and profitability.

  • Analyse actual performance against budgets, forecasts and prior periods, helping explain key movements and variances.

  • Support customer and product profitability analysis, highlighting trends and areas for further investigation.

  • Help analyse manufacturing costs, including materials, waste, labour and productivity.

  • Support analysis of logistics and distribution costs.

  • Assist with working capital analysis, including stock, debtors and creditors.

  • Help maintain and develop financial models to support forecasting, scenario analysis and business decisions.

  • Work with colleagues across Finance and operational teams to gather information and understand the factors influencing performance.

  • Improve the accuracy, consistency and usefulness of financial reports and supporting data.

  • Support month-end reporting and wider finance activities.

  • Contribute to business projects and improvements to financial planning and reporting processes.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Recently qualified or approaching qualification in CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.

  • A sound grounding in accounting, gained through study and practical finance experience.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence working with financial data.

  • Good Excel skills and an interest in developing financial models and reporting tools.

  • The ability to present information clearly and explain what the numbers mean.

  • Curiosity about business performance and a willingness to investigate trends and ask questions.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Desirable:

  • Experience in management accounting, financial analysis or financial reporting.

  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting or variance analysis.

  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.

  • Experience of working closely with stakeholders outside of Finance

  • Exposure to manufacturing, retail, supply chain, logistics or another operational environment.

Previous experience in a dedicated FP&A or Business Partner role isn’t essential. We’re interested in your potential, analytical approach and willingness to learn. You’ll receive support from experienced colleagues as you develop your understanding of the business and grow into the role.

Benefits:

  • 33 days annual leave

  • Competitive salary package

  • Employee Assistance Programme with BUPA

  • Company profit related pay scheme

  • Life Assurance at 2x salary

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus UK bank holidays

  • Employee discount at Wynnstay Stores

  • Opportunity to join a supportive, values-led organisation with a turnover of £583 million and over 800 colleagues nationwide
