This role is based in Llansantffraid, full-time working day shifts Monday to Friday; this will include working a rotating on-call schedule, which will cover nights and weekends.
Role Overview: The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer supports Wynnstay’s feed mill operations by providing dependable mechanical and electrical maintenance to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous manufacture of animal feed. The role is responsible for responding to equipment breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and coordinating with external contractors and third-party service providers. As part of a 24/7 on-call rota, the engineer helps maximise equipment availability while upholding high standards of health, safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Respond quickly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to restore plant availability.
- Diagnose faults and carry out safe, efficient repairs on mill and manufacturing equipment.
- Minimise downtime and support overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections.
- Identify, record, and escalate defects or recurring issues.
- Support safe fault recovery and restart of automated and PLC-controlled plant.
- Carry out isolations, lock-off procedures, and permit-to-work activities.
- Support production and out loading operations, including shift cover when required.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors in line with site procedures.
- Participate in a rotating on-call rota, responding to out-of-hours breakdowns.
- Communicate clearly with production, supervisors, and engineering colleagues.
- Provide accurate handovers, report, and escalate risks or concerns appropriately.
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Relevant engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled).
- Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, processing, or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability.
- Experience working with automated plant and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and compliance.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
Desirable:
- Experience in a mill, heavy process, or continuous operation environment.
- Exposure to PLC-controlled systems and automated production lines.
- Experience supporting reliability or continuous improvement initiatives.
