Mill Maintenance Engineer Wynnstay Group is seeking a skilled and proactive Mill Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our animal feed manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining plant availability through a combination of reactive breakdown support, planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities. Working across both mechanical and electrical systems, you will help ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently while meeting quality, compliance and operational standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled engineer looking to develop their career within a well-established organisation in the agricultural sector. The role offers a varied and hands-on environment, working with modern automated plant and equipment while contributing directly to the production of high-quality animal feed. Responsibilities: Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to minimise downtime and support production targets Carry out fault finding, repairs and maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing and milling equipment Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to ensure equipment reliability and performance Conduct routine inspections and identify defects, escalating issues where appropriate Support the safe operation and restart of automated and PLC-controlled plant and equipment Work in accordance with all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, including HACCP, COSHH, UFAS and VMD requirements Carry out equipment isolation and lock-off procedures safely and work within permit-to-work systems Assist production teams to ensure efficient site operations and plant performance Manage and supervise contractors working on site in line with company procedures Participate in the on-call rota, responding to out-of-hours breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide clear communication during shift handovers What we're looking for: Essential: Relevant engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled) Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, processing or industrial environment Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills Experience working with automated plant and production equipment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong commitment to health, safety and compliance standards Willingness to participate in an on-call rota Effective communication and problem-solving skills Desirable: Experience within a mill, animal feed, heavy process or continuous manufacturing environment Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and automated production lines Experience supporting reliability, root cause analysis or continuous improvement initiatives FLT licence or experience operating FLTs Benefits: Competitive salary Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) 4% employer pension contribution Life Assurance after probation period 25 days' annual leave plus UK bank holidays Wynnstay Colleague Discount programme Company Profit Related Performance Bonus Ongoing training and development opportunities Opportunity to join a supportive, values-led organisation with a turnover of over £583 million and over 900 colleagues nationwide If you're a motivated maintenance engineer with a strong safety focus and a passion for keeping manufacturing operations running at their best, we'd love to hear from you
