Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to provide technical leadership across our established Java‑based platforms and guide the evolution of our architecture into new markets and AI‑enabled delivery models.
This role balances hands‑on architectural leadership, strong system design and business‑logic mastery, and AI‑assisted engineering practices, including prompt‑driven development and design acceleration.
You will work closely with Development Manager, Product Manager and QA to ensure our platforms remain robust, scalable, and future‑ready—while enabling teams to deliver faster and with higher confidence using modern tools and AI prompting.
Job Description
- Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Act as technical authority for backend architecture across core Java platforms and services.
- Own and evolve system architecture, integration patterns, and platform design for both existing products and new market initiatives.
- Ensure architectural decisions balance scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost .
- Provide clear architectural direction through diagrams, ADRs, reference implementations, and standards .
- AI‑Enabled Engineering
- Support and enable the adoption of AI-assisted development practices in collaboration with AI leadership
- Use AI tools effectively for design, analysis, and implementation support
- Work closely with AI leadership to translate AI capabilities into scalable, secure, and maintainable system designs.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to determine when AI is appropriate versus deterministic solutions.
- Define guardrails and best practices for using AI to accelerate design, coding, and business‑logic reasoning .
- Partner with engineering managers to upskill teams in effective and responsible AI usage .
- Business Logic & Domain Mastery
- Develop deep understanding of core business domains and rules embedded in the platform.
- Ensure business logic is correct, explicit, testable, and maintainable , avoiding unintended coupling or hidden complexity.
- Support teams in modelling complex rules and workflows using clean, well‑structured design patterns .
- Product & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
